  • Interesting tour of an iconic Port brand so you get to know its history & how it's made (using a pure alcohol to mix with local white or red grapes). The different styles & ages are explained. Some are very complex having been kept in oak barrels of different sizes before bottling when they continue to rest & age well. Surprisingly smooth & not sweet like many sherries. The underground complex extends some way back so when you finish you realise you are in a very elevated place well away from the Douro where you entered the Winery. Tour Guides are all good & speak perfect English.
  • Staff uninterested in helping nor assisting during the purchase of a bottle. 5 staff members in the tasting area and behind the counter, all to interested in talking to each other or on the phone. We only wanted to buy a bottle, not a full tasting or tour. Staff wouldn't allow us to have a small sample prior to buying a full bottle. They said they were full but the tasting area had 1 table only. We tasted 3 different ports the day before so we already knew what we liked, but we wanted to taste an older bottle prior to investing the money. Other port companies in the area are more friendly and actually give you a taste. Good port, horrible staff and service. Bad experience.
  • Came here on rainy day as interested in wines, Had to book and pay then wait 1.5 hours for the English tour. Guide was good and interesting, explaining the different ports and how they are made. The actual barrels and places to see were interesting, but the guide did not really explain them. 40 minutes cost €13 with 2 glasses of port ( blanco and tawny) neither of which I really liked that much but I will try blanco with tonic and ice as a new drink!
  • Quite short (30min) but informative tour. I didn’t know much about port so surely it was very interesting. It tales you round all the basics of the Ferreira winery (some parts are currently under constraction so be caref) and gives you some background and history. The tour was given in English. I did the normal tour and tasted 2 ports at the end (White and ruby). There is wine shop on the end of tour.
  • Guided tour was very complete and interesting. Carlos was friendly and looking forward to clear any doubts during the visit. Porto wine was positively surprising.
