Ferreira, Vila Nova de Gaia
(3.9/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Sample and learn about one of Portugal's most famous traditional products at Ferreira, a wine-making estate specializing in port. Founded in 1751, the company boasts a long pedigree in the important regional industry. Take a cellar tour, which gives you background information on the growing and production processes. You'll see the storage facilities where the wine is aged. Afterward, you can taste of several different port varieties, depending on the specific tour, and maybe even get a glimpse of the site's 19th-century tasting room. Be sure to book online ahead of time, especially if you'd like to arrange a private group tour. To visit Ferreira on your trip to Vila Nova de Gaia, use our Vila Nova de Gaia travel itinerary maker.

  • There are no tours in Spanish. They seem completely disinterested in it despite the lot of Spaniards who asked for such visits. We went to one in French. The guide was very friendly and pleasant. Beautiful old building. Two ports are tasted by six euros. They are not reservations none of the two.

  • I went there today and the tour was ok. But I bought some wines and now I just saw in the supermarket the prices for the same wines are 35% cheaper than at Ferreira! I feel like a tourist trap and will never more buy any wine from them. If you go don't buy any wine! Just go for the tour.
