Sample and learn about one of Portugal's most famous traditional products at Ferreira, a wine-making estate specializing in port. Founded in 1751, the company boasts a long pedigree in the important regional industry. Take a cellar tour, which gives you background information on the growing and production processes. You'll see the storage facilities where the wine is aged. Afterward, you can taste of several different port varieties, depending on the specific tour, and maybe even get a glimpse of the site's 19th-century tasting room. • Got an interesting tour in German. Definitely worth to visit one of the wineries. At the end, the tasting whets the appetite for more. Only one flaw: the ports in the supermarkets partly much cheaper offered as in the winery itself.

  • We did the classic Spanish visit for €10 and the truth is that we loved it! The girl who made the tour very spoke Spanish well and explained very well the difference between wines, barrels, the history of port wine and wine Ferreira. It is a tour of the winery, by the Museum and ends with a tasting of two types of wine, white and the tawny. I think that a wine tasting is something that must be done if Porto will be and this is a good wine cellar where to do it.

  • More two wine tastings conducted tour in Spanish from 5 pm for € 10. The visit lasted about half an hour and we left pretty happy. The Winery is located in a former convent, which is a plus... The girl, Portuguese-speaking, made a great effort to make the trip in Spanish. Recommended!

  • I went there today and the tour was ok. But I bought some wines and now I just saw in the supermarket the prices for the same wines are 35% cheaper than at Ferreira! I feel like a tourist trap and will never more buy any wine from them. If you go don't buy any wine! Just go for the tour.
  • Excellent site to look for information at cais de Gaia
