Santuario de Santa Luzia, Viana do Castelo

Experience excellent views of Viana do Castelo, the Minho River, and Atlantic Ocean from atop this architecturally intriguing Santuario de Santa Luzia. This mountaintop church was built by acclaimed architects Miguel Ventura Terra and Miguel Nogueira between 1904 and 1959. Climb the staircase or take the funicular uphill to the basilica grounds. View the Revivalist Roman and Byzantine styles that make the structure's design so impressive. If you are feeling adventurous, you can scale the stairs to the top of the towers for incredible views of the surrounding valley, coastline, and city. • Viana do castelo is a beautiful city with many points of interest where stands out especially the sanctuary of Santa Luzia. Access to the sanctuary from the city can be done in three different ways, by car, by funicular or by the staircase (659 steps) surrounded by nature. After finishing up there worth entering the shrine and visit the Lantern Tower. The view is magnificent, transmits a lot of tranquillity and who want to opt for a photographic memory, I recommend you do a Lord there taking pictures like they used to!
