Inspirock Rating:
4.8/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web
The Gothic- and Moorish-styled chambers, cloisters, and hallways of Convento da Ordem de Cristo reflect the era of the Templars, Knights of the Order of Christ, and lavishly dressed royals. Meticulously crafted over the course of centuries (since the year 1160), the convent was adorned with extensive wall art, decorative windows, extravagant tiles, colorful gardens, and complex ornaments from top to bottom. Walk through its tall rooms and seemingly endless labyrinths of hallways, and view the Romanesque church, filled with Gothic paintings, gargoyles, and religious sculptures. Outside, explore the gardens filled with trees, flowers, arched passages, fountains, and tombs.
