Tavira Island, Tavira
(4.5/5 based on 1,400+ reviews on the web)
Vast stretches of white and golden sands, classical South Iberian and Moorish houses, and a wide range of traditional taverns make Tavira Island an idyllic way to experience the many colors of Portugal. Accessible by ferry or water taxi, the 11 km (6.8 mi) long island shelters exotic flora and curious birds, including the seasonal flamingo. You can walk for hours through its dunes and marshes. Stake out a place at one of the campsites, go swimming and soak in some sun, or have a stroll through the island's charming narrow streets. You can stop for a bite at a traditional restaurant. • The nice walk on the beach in the Sun / that goes also in November. The ferry ride costs €1,50 grade times back and forth. So no go

  • Journey out to the Island on the ferry is quick but scenic. Some cafes and restaurants open in November and all very friendly. Beach is clean and as the sandbar goes on and on and on.... very easy to ...  more »
  • After a friendly ferry crossing, we arrive on the island to see a superb sandy beach a big downside, there should be smokers to discipline a little as butts spoil the cleanliness of the island which is a shame on such a site! Despite this I would recommend even in November
