Camera Obscura, Tavira

4.1
See a historical piece of technology in action at Camera Obscura, housed in an old water tower. Visit this tallest building in town, and make your way to the top for views of the surrounding city and countryside. While the technology dates back to the 15th century, the circular projection screen appears much like a live video. You'll receive an overview from a member of staff about the history of the city, its culture, and the landmarks you'll see on the screen. • It is funny, original, interesting... but it is not so amazing, lasts 15 minutes and over given the explanation you in English if there are several tourists. She is €4 entrance, you raise, and you look at a large white circular stone located horizontally and in front of your eyes, as if you were looking at a plate of food (without food and giant) when the little man in the Tower opens the floodgates, projected / reflects an image coming from a few mirrors located above the Tower, so the city looks. It revolves in the mirrors and the image will move at the time which goes explaining the different buildings and making bad jokes, is paying the € 4 but only by curiosity. Once paid out, you will want to have conservadolos € 4, and nor is that Tavira has other sites where pay input...

  • Through a machine with a long lens is projected the city of Tavira in real time where a very nice guide tells you the buildings and monuments of the town.

Where to stay in Tavira

Tavira boasts a selection of affordable accommodations. Check yourself into a family-run bed and breakfast or small-time hotel as an affordable option with a quiet atmosphere among the city's array of whitewashed homes. Stay in a guesthouse or private apartment tucked into the residential neighborhoods along the banks of the Gilao River for a great view over the waterway and across to the other side's historical waterfront buildings. Alternatively, you can opt to pay a little more to stay in one of the more upscale hotels located in the residential neighborhoods north of the freeway; these require transportation into town but feature pools, restaurants, and plenty of amenities.
