Pico da Vara is the highest mountain on the Portuguese island of São Miguel, in the Azores archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. It lies in the east of the island in the Serra da Tronqueira range in the municipality of Nordeste. The area around the mountain includes the largest remaining stand of the native laurisilva forest on the island, which is home to the critically endangered endemic bird species, the Azores bullfinch.

  • Really liked this track on San Miguel. It is very diverse, the trail goes through the woods with lots of birds and over hills, overgrown bushes, just crosses several creeks. Some made fortified step, because the Track climbs steeply up. Stunning, I'm not cherished photograph. The weather was not very lucky it was cloudy, but without rain. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Recommend for tourists of any age, you can simply go slowly.
