  • Even today, admittedly, the origin and development of Santo Tirso are associated with the influence of the Benedictine monastery which since the 19th century. X, there existed. The monastery in turn there continues – no longer with the original function, but, after many vicissitudes for now, ended up divided by three owners and each part with its function: the Church, the Office of the Commission Fabriqueira, with worship, the Municipal Museum Abade Pedrosa, on the wing belonging to the City Council (which had its first installation in 1834, when was created the County) and the monastery itself, with the adjoining farms, "inside" and "outside", belonging to the brotherhood and Santa Casa da Misericórdia location, where is installed the Agricultural vocational school Count of Saint Benedict. A visit not to be missed, for now, the museum space was enlarged and integrated in the nóvel International Museum of contemporary sculpture.

  • Perfectly framed in the landscape of Riverside Ave, and the proof is the beautiful "tour of Friars" that accompanies the River, this monastery, with over 1000 years of history, worth a visit for the countless beauties and peculiarities. Since the beautiful facade of the Church, inside, cruciform plan, with beautiful altars with magnificent and splendid gilded ceilings and paintings, majestic organ with terrifying frown, not forgetting the cloisters, two, from different eras, and even the ruins of a third cloister and if possible visit the sacristy with its shrines and the former chapter room (Chapel).

  • Very well maintained historic site and therefore a must-see. Right next door we have the agricultural school where in that same building may also visit a chapel of singular aspect.
