Quinta do Riacho Reviews
We booked our horseback riding trip in advance and it was a great pleasure. The horeses are friendly (the dogs as well) and we enjoyed it so much to discover Madeira this way. And our guide, Paula, wa... more »
A horse ride out from Quinta do Riacho in the Laurissilva, Madeira’s ancient forest hills, was one of the best experiences of our first visit to the island. We spent two weeks over Christmas/New Year ... more »
This was by far the most beautiful place where I have ever ridden a horse. Me (all grown about, a lot of ancient riding experience but very rusty) and my girls (9 and 15, about 20hrs riding experience... more »
Fabulous happy horses, beautiful forest and views, Paula was a superb guide and obviously cares about her horses a lot as they are so well, are full of personality and enjoy life! Highly recommended to anyone whether complete beginner or an experienced horse rider and owner.
I always wanted to ride a horse and this was a wonderful possabilty for me to try. After half an hour waiting at the stables we were finally able to sit on the horse. Of course I was a bit afraid of it (I had absolut no experience in riding), but i noticed very fast, that the horses were calm and well trained. I guess, if I wouldn't have given the horse some instructions, he would have carried me anyway well the whole way. We booked the forest trail (Ride 6) and the landscape was wonderful, although it was a bit chilly at the end. After one hour I felt good on the horse and I wished there would have been the possability to trot with the horse. There was also no need of taking pictures, because Paula was taking the whole time pictures with her mobile so that we can concentrate on riding. I really enjoyed it and now I wish, I had a horse to ride again. I recommend this really to all visitors on Madeira who love nature and animals.
My wife and I went horse riding from Quinta do riacho, which is situated in beautiful area in the mountains next to forests and fantastic scenery. The horses are well looked after and the staff were very friendly
I had a truly amazing experience riding with Quinta do Riacho. The horses were well behaving, beautiful and very well trained. You could see that the well being of the horses was a priority for the owners, which was also an important factor for me. The owner couple was so sweet and very caring, picked me up from my hotel and also drove me back there after, during the ride checking many times if everything was OK, telling our riding group of the nature in the Levada and about their animals, taking us to great scenery spots to take photos and even send us via Facebook photos that they took of us while we rode! I highly recommend Quinta do Riacho for everybody who want to experience Madeira's nature in an unique way - why walk a Levada, when you can RIDE :)
Quinta do Riacho offer a wonderful way to see the fantastic scenery of Madeira. I have ridden 3 times with Paulo and Paula and every ride has been different, interesting and most importantly great fun! They offer a great service, being able to pick riders up (and return) from their accommodation which saves the expense and hassle of taxies. The horses are beautifully looked after, which is so important. I'm really hoping to return again next year. :)
