  • I first made a first visit. I discovered Portuguese cavaquinhos which some offered a beautiful sound, especially one that had a great sound for less than two hundred euros. We bought a baritone ukulele that sounds very properly for about 130 euros. Very good value for money. French speaking kind seller. A store for anyone who wants to buy a ukulele (open choice) or Portuguese cavaquinho or Brazilian.

  • It is mandatory for those who love music, sounds and moves to listen. Interesting for those who want to understand more than the Portuguese musical culture. You enter and it smells of wood ... What is used to build the guitars that are exposed. The staff are friendly and helpful. Also great to find out about concerts or shows less touristy.

  • Before our visit to Porto I read that a number of stringed instruments were peculiar to Portugal. The cavaquinho for example, is the ancestor of the ukulele and as well as mandolins, there are guitar ...  more »

  • Very knowledgeable and pleasant staff, great selection of guitars, and no pressure! Very pleased with my purchase as well.
  • I recently visited Oporto for three days and was lucky enough to come across Porto Guitarra. I spent a couple of hours talking with Agostinho (Tico) about the many Portuguese and Brazilian instruments in his shop - so different from the usual run of the mill guitar shops! - He was most enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful even demonstrating some playing techniques of the Portuguese guitar. Many if not most of the instruments are handmade in Portugal and very well priced for what they are. I build instruments myself and could barely buy the timber for the price of the mandolin which I could not resist! This was shipped home to Northern Ireland and arrived four days later extremely well packaged. I happily recommend Porto Guitarra to everybody who has an interest in stringed instruments or simply music. Patrick Finney
  • If you are a guitar lover, and you are visiting Porto, you can't miss it. Specialized in acoustic portuguese string instruments. Top notch friendly service!
  • Instruments of very decent quality for a compromise price quality excellent. Surprises sound level of ukuleles, cavaquinhos portigais and Brazilian. Tomorrow if I have time, I go buy a Portuguese cavaquinho crystal clear and of good quality, the equivalent would be in France largely at double the price and I'll offer myself for less than 190 euros.je recommend the tour and I wish a crush (take the time to reflection as any purchase) to any musician who wants to enrich its fleet of instruments. A little visit to do.
