  • D. Luis is a great bridge. This one is just a bridge. I don´t know why it is listed as a touristic spot...  more »
  • Was the largest reinforced concrete (reinforced concrete) to train (train) at the time it was built. But what impresses is the lightness, the beauty, the elegance of its forms, as a result of the genius of the engineer EDGAR CARDOSO, artist, engineer, inventor, engineer civil engineering genius of the 20th century. Put most worthy successor to Eifel had built for the steam trains. The Queen Mary, which stands at your side, as a monument, as a witness of an era, as the legacy of a genius next to another legacy of another genius! Read – BUT READ! -the monumental "EDGAR CARDOSO, civil engineer", which had already signed the authorship of the Arrábida Bridge and that forever will be just immortalized in this work published by Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto-FEUP, authored by Louis Lousada Soares

  • Ponte de São João (Saint Joan bridge) is a bridge professional. Maria Pia bridge is elegant with beautiful arches of the bridge, but this is insufficient interesting in reinforced concrete feel. I want to cross this bridge to Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal Japanese national railways took advantage.

  • Train-traffic only bridge with amazing views over the Douro river. It connects Gaia to Porto and it´s one of the busiest train lines on the Porto area.
  • Simple bridge, but which is more an icon in the beautiful city of Porto. Enjoy the panoramic views of the bridge "nearby": Maria Pia Bridge

Where to stay in Porto

Portugal's second city offers a healthy variety and quantity of accessible accommodations. The historical city center on the northern bank of the River Douro teems with hotel options, ranging from budget-friendly hostels and guesthouses, which often have shared rooms, to upscale, luxury hotels housed in larger buildings and packed with amenities. All of these options place you conveniently close to the town's main sights, including churches, historical squares, and more. On top of that, many hotels on the northern bank boast good views from their hilltop vantage points. If you want to save big on cost, it's worth considering a more low-key hostel or small hotel on the less-popular southern bank.
