Palacio da Bolsa, Porto

4.4
Tour Palacio da Bolsa, a 19th-century stock-market palace, and walk through the lavish rooms of the assembly and tribunal. Built by the Commercial Association in 1850, the building was improved upon and decorated until 1910. See the courtyard room, filled with arched doorways and covered by a large octagonal metallic and glass dome. You can explore quaint chambers that host allegorical paintings, rustic furniture, sculptures, and antique objects. Visit the most lavish room at the site, the Moorish Revival-styled reception hall, which once welcomed important personalities and leaders. • Less publicized than other tourist sites, the Bolsa is well worth a visit, both for the historical significance of the building, well described during the guided tour, and for the magnificence of the halls, really well maintained and pleasantly surprising, especially those of Arabian style. Negatives: the higher cost compared to other attractions in the city and the lack of hits in Italian.

  • Not d originality in the comments. To do the guided tour in the language of your choice and s register. We could enjoy our guide french comments. The rooms are beautiful and worth visiting. Indeed, the price for 30 min to visit is high.

  • The visit is necessarily guided a fixed working hours, so you have to buy the tickets in advance. For us the french visit was at 3 pm. It lasts 20 to 30 minutes at a price of €8 per adult, € 5 for more than 12 years old and free for children. For me except the Arab lounge which was worth the trip by contribution to its decoration, the other 4 rooms nothing special. But when you're in Porto is a place to visit as even.

  • A beautiful building well worth a visit. A bit overpriced. I was unable to take good pictures of the best rooms, especially the Arab Room, as they were rented out for events. Great they can make money from events but you shouldn't have to pay so much when rooms are set up for a conference. Somewhat disappointing that they continue to make the money grab from tourism at the same time as they collect thousands for events and you get to take pictures of a guy setting up chairs for a conference. My advice to them: events or tours. Not compatible. We should have been told before we paid that some areas were closed or not suitable for photography.
  • Lovely Palace, with rich historical landmarks! But to visit inside the palace you will have to get a paid(8€) guided tour, which is offered in different languages, for only half an hour. Most attractive part of the Palace is the Arabic room. They also have cafe and washrooms for tourists inside the palace
  • A must to visit if you are in Porto. It's a beautiful building that has several rooms worth visiting. Focus in the Arabic hall. Lots of details and a must to see. In the proximity there is also Ribeira and s. Francis church
  • Was closed for a conference. Check opening before you go if this place is important to you. That said, what we could see through the doors and windows looked beautiful.
  • Let me put this way: it's wonderful, but it's too quick and a bit overpriced... BUT it's wonderful... worth a first visit to take your own conclusions.

Where to stay in Porto

Portugal's second city offers a healthy variety and quantity of accessible accommodations. The historical city center on the northern bank of the River Douro teems with hotel options, ranging from budget-friendly hostels and guesthouses, which often have shared rooms, to upscale, luxury hotels housed in larger buildings and packed with amenities. All of these options place you conveniently close to the town's main sights, including churches, historical squares, and more. On top of that, many hotels on the northern bank boast good views from their hilltop vantage points. If you want to save big on cost, it's worth considering a more low-key hostel or small hotel on the less-popular southern bank.
