Where to stay in Porto

Portugal's second city offers a healthy variety and quantity of accessible accommodations. The historical city center on the northern bank of the River Douro teems with hotel options, ranging from budget-friendly hostels and guesthouses, which often have shared rooms, to upscale, luxury hotels housed in larger buildings and packed with amenities. All of these options place you conveniently close to the town's main sights, including churches, historical squares, and more. On top of that, many hotels on the northern bank boast good views from their hilltop vantage points. If you want to save big on cost, it's worth considering a more low-key hostel or small hotel on the less-popular southern bank.

  • Can only judge this from the outside, having not had time to make a proper visit, but it seems much like many other castles guarding the coast. Worth seeing, but it is a long way out of the centre, so...  more »
  • Had a car in Porto, so we drove away from the city center a bit. This is right on the water near the beach area of Porto. We walked around the outside. Didn't pay to go inside. It was OK. I don't thin...  more »
  • Cool vista looking at the coast line. No historical context or information provided. However there is a cafe inside. Grab a beer or coffee! I might come back here.  more »

  • Punto turistico, esta cerca de parque da cidade, el acuario y las playas de matosinhos. La vista desde el csstillo es agradable
  • That is a nice place to have some rest as observing the fort and to have a look at sunset or sunrise if you come soon enough. Next to it there is an important bus stop so it is very easy to go there and come back if you are only looking for visiting the place.
  • Very funny place , cost of entry is only 0.50 EUR, one of the cheapest place in Porto , worth to see, cool view on surfers beach .
  • Just a 50cent entrance. Nice views from inside. Not much else to see though.
  • A cool little fort. Nothing mind blowing, don't lose sleep over not going inside.
