  • Found by chance passing by the street in the late evening. Sardine canning's decorations are so pretty to visit the shop. The employees are very friendly and speak English well. The interior decorations are so pretty. Porto is a great place to buy souvenirs.

  • It is a local of the year 1910 who started selling coffee, chocolate and tea. With the passing of the years and with the purchase of José María Gama, its flagship is the cod, presented in a beautiful cans. Each can bring data on the year contained therein. It brings 140 grams and costs 7 euros.

  • It's a shop founded in 1910, sells canned foods in cans with dates of years. And each one of them does something important that happened in that year. Very curious decor, and very pleasant staff. It is worth to see it approach.

  • This concept store deserves a visit for its decoration and to take a picture: There are thousands of cans of sardines with retro decoration with a printed year. I saw many tourists taking pictures and few to buy the cans. To appreciate the canned Portuguese sardines there are better options. Buying a can for souvenir from Porto and Portugal seems interesting.
  • Text book example of tourism apocalypse. This once authentic locale's favourite grocery store has sucumb to the horde of tourists looking for a tatty souvenir. With (for now) so many authentic places to shop in, why would anyone actually buy anything here?? How does a tinned sardine with some random date stamp pass as "authentic"??
  • Friendly helpful sales staff, they sell locally grown sardines CoMur from Murtosa, and bacalau too.
  • Always nice to visit a small shop that has its good spirit !
  • Really beautiful place with very nice staff.

Where to stay in Porto

Portugal's second city offers a healthy variety and quantity of accessible accommodations. The historical city center on the northern bank of the River Douro teems with hotel options, ranging from budget-friendly hostels and guesthouses, which often have shared rooms, to upscale, luxury hotels housed in larger buildings and packed with amenities. All of these options place you conveniently close to the town's main sights, including churches, historical squares, and more. On top of that, many hotels on the northern bank boast good views from their hilltop vantage points. If you want to save big on cost, it's worth considering a more low-key hostel or small hotel on the less-popular southern bank.
