Porto Santo Golfe, Porto Santo Island
(4/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
Porto Santo Golfe is a 27-hole golf club on scenic Porto Santo Island, in Madeira, Portugal. It opened in 2004, and was designed by the Spanish 5-time major winner, Seve Ballesteros.DescriptionThe 7,041 yard, par 72 layout features spectacular views, particularly on the back nine, as holes 13, 14 and 15 run alongside the rugged coastline. The signature hole is the par 3 13th, which measures 200 yards and requires a shot over a gorge to reach the cliff-top green. In addition to the full length course, there is a nine-hole pitch and putt. There are also tennis facilities and an equestrian centre at the club.Madeira Islands OpenPorto Santo Golfe hosts the Madeira Islands Open on the European Tour. Changes made to the course for the tournament included a new back tee for the 14th, and the shortening of the par 5 3rd, so that it plays as a par 4. The course therefore plays as a 6,983 yard par 71 as opposed to the standard par 72 layout.

  • We made this late in October during our trip to the island. Our profile: (including 1 good Eater) 2 adults and 2 children for almost 9 years. Hospitality is flawless, friendly and outgoing, and excellent food: all of our requirements could be met especially with respect to children, all in a green setting (come before 8 pm to enjoy the view of the golf course and the surrounding area, or otherwise, come play golf the day is even better) and relaxing. What can I say? Easy: we went back a 2nd night away before our departure while we had planned to go in another very good island address ;) A recommend to the quality of the service, very good food (and excellent cooking) and the frame.

  • Come to Porto Santo three times in the last six years and, apart from the incomparable Beach, I come for golf. 18-hole Ocean cliffs with breathtaking degrading until near the beach on the other side of the island. In the middle of a high-level architectural club house with an excellent restaurant. Various holes, all different, that you remember. On top, in front of the Atlantic, a bench, with a touching recollection of Seve Ballesteros who drew the most scenic holes. Atlantic wind also supported but it's hard to lose balls, contrary to what often happens in the fields to the sea. The shortage of water makes the field a bit dry but everywhere well playable. Professional and hospitable services. An enjoyable golf paradise with friends, but also on their own. Among other things with a dry climate and breezy that never gets old. Worth a trip!

  • I went with my husband and my son. We are not experienced golfers so decided to play on the 9 hole par 3 course. It was excellent. First we went on the driving range which was fun and warmed us up nic...  more »
