  • Lindoso is a village and is located in the region of the Peneda-Gerês National Park:) Not to be missed! Visit Lindoso door with your Castle and the greater number of granaries together throughout Portugal. There are express recommendation to schedule prior to the visit, when we were at the time of the winter (January), everything was very quiet and absolutely empty. There is no public transport to the site, so I recommend going by car or motorbike. The site is almost to Spain, in the North of Portugal. The price to access the interior of the castle is symbolic and varies between 1.5 to 3 euros per person. The medieval castle: some authors claim that the toponym Lindoso derives from the Latin "Limitosum" (limiter, border, extreme). Although there are no information about the primitive human occupation of your place, this name is not mentioned in the Inquiries of 1220, which comes to occur in the of 1258. It is understandable, therefore, that has been raised to root in the reign of d. Afonso III, entered in the effort of strengthening the border defense system, undertaken by that sovereign. Among the obligations of the inhabitants of the town, included the to provide the Mayor of foods under certain circumstances, and he denied any abuse against practicing these same inhabitants. The castle would have been strengthened and enlarged in the reign of King Dinis I of Portugal, from 1278.

  • Have a beautiful view of the Mountains around. On a sunny day is quite beautiful, to make a demonstration with the kids.

  • Beautiful and secluded castle in Peneda-Gerês National Park. There is a hotel you can stay in next door and be able to explore the area. When we visited it was a rainy day but still worth every view. You can go in and explore the different scenery perspectives looking over the town and river.
  • One of the most beautiful places to visit by car in Portugal, the view is breathtaking, relaxing is so powerful that it can hardly forget, it seems you're back to ancient times.
  • Castle next to the largest concentration of granaries of Europe.
