Once a major site of medieval Portugal's whaling industry, Baleal Beach today is a popular beach and surfing destination. Technically an island, the area is connected to the mainland via a thin, raised strip of sand. Explore the beaches to lounge in the sun or go for a dip in the calmer waters.   • Beautiful beaches. A wonderful place to spend with family and/or friends. The restoration is varied with several options and prices. The night also offers a variant of lively bars.
