  • Traveling to Palmela, you can visit the Castle. It is an touristic attraction and a hotel too. I just visited the touristical part, showing ancient parts of the castle, including one little chapel, in...  more »
  • The view from the top of the castelo de Palmela is simply stunning. And that peace that this place gives us. Indescribable! Ride of a lifetime and close to Lisbon.

  • Good conservation. Valley by the spectacular view. In historical terms ZERO. A castle so important to deserve another shot. The barely visible (excavations) of previous periods is the Castle. Not shown anything concerning your strategic importance.

  • Awesome view... Well preserved castle.
  • The impressive visual domain of the castelo de Palmela, about the estuaries of the Tagus and Sado, determined from an early age the politico-military direction of the fortress. The cerro de Palmela was chosen by the Umayyad leaders to build a strong fortress and to the installation of your residence and the accommodations of the garrison, at a time when instability in the region was great. The castelo de Palmela played, with those of the Coina and Sesimbra, a strategic role in the Organization of surveillance and defence of the region inter-estuarina.

  • I really enjoyed the Castle, and the ride was pleasant. However call attention to the issue of insecurity in the parking lot, my car had broken the lock and was scratched ... I don't know if it was a one-off situation if something common at the site. But here I leave the wake-up call.

  • The Castle and the Inn are a designed set of rare beauty. The buildings are recovered and are of a unique beauty. Anyone who wants to can stay overnight at the Inn and enjoy silence and peace. After the landscape throughout your round is magnificent: the South have Setúbal, the Sado River and Troy, North lost his sight to the Tagus and Lisbon, this farmland as far as the eye can see and the West the magnificent and beautiful Serra da Arrábida. A unique place that cannot lose.

  • Place in history with more than 800 years, the Castelo de Palmela, reserves an immense landscape that goes far beyond the municipality of Palmela, being possible to envision all of the Sado estuary, the Serra da Arrábida and the city of Lisbon, the Tagus River shining in the distance. Castelo de Palmela is also the Inn, a romantic and tranquil place to stay overnight and leave, the day after the conquest of Palmela. ...
