  • If you visit in Olhão enjoy to visit this island and enjoy its beaches and its crystal clear water.

  • The island is nice, pretty and friendly. To get there, you have to take a boat. A Board, be there 20 to 30 m if you want a good spot or avoid taking the next boat! To access the beach, plan between 20 and 30 m, by a concrete path then a wooden footbridge. The view is magnificent. If you have young children, refer to Farol, it will be better. The advantage is that in the end, you get a beautiful beach, with clear water, and very few people. Spend the day, it's better!

  • We decided to take the ferry across to this beach. They run every 2 hours from the far end of the quay at olhao. It takes about half an hour on the boat and then a 20 minute walk through the town and ...  more »

  • It is a good place to come and visit... However not the best to eat, restaurants are expensive and little variations to menu. Way before you come for a tour and save some money. Apart from that great place for a walk on the beach.
  • Wonderful experience. This won't be forgotten
  • Nice place to visit and have a fantastic gastronomic experience lunch.
  • Islands of culantra. Portugal. In front of Olhão. 25 minutes by ferry. No car. No noise... At the exception of bars at mealtimes. Beer. Grilled fish and Sun... Small flat... The Portuguese here are less nice than usual. Because it is traders come to l summer do the season... Remains to be done even when... Beach Coast ocean breath...

  • The Culatra or Farol island is an island that is located near the village sailor of Olhao, accessed from this regular Ferry or barca-taxi. The regular Ferry costs approximately 2.70 round-trip from Olhão and there are several schedules, 9 leaving the first from Olhão to 20.00 h splitting the latter from Culatra. The island is the same as the island of Farol but there are two populations, Culatra and Farol. By the side of the beach, say that it is the same, that runs across the entire side of the island facing the Atlantic Ocean. Since leave you the Ferry at the pier of the island to the beach have to walk 30 minutes, very relaxed, first on the population, which has no roads, no cars, only a few plates of concrete over the sand, and then across a desem wood platform mouth directly into the sea. The walk is very nice and is not at all heavy. Once you reach the beach there is no service so we must take everything you want, food, umbrellas, etc. If we walk on the left facing the sea there is nothing and if we walked right we arrive at Lantern by that on the same day we can know both "Islands" or populations rather. If what you want is tranquillity, walking once arrived at the shore to the left when viewing the sea, ten minutes there will be nobody and you're only even in August. You can swim quietly naked in the sea that nobody will disturb you. Normally the water is blue turquera and the waters are transparent and clean, although very cold as in all of the Algarve. Hiking mandatory if you are about to Olhão.
