  • This beautiful Castle shows us timidly some of the strategic importance and cultural traits that I've had in other times and that the erosion of that time insists on erasing. The village with the same name follows you the past since you lack to desertification very common in our interior. For what is observed in the local municipality of Meda is keen to contribute to this degradation and abandonment since there is no informative card that has a single letter. Some areas of the Castle seem to also serve as a worksite that on Castle prospect. Anyway it's always worth a visit because it is our history and heritage.

In the year 1063 King Ferdinand the great of León reconquered it village Arabs and gave him the name Malwa, from which later formed the name of Marialva. But some legends claim that the name comes from the name of Dona Maria Alvy, beloved Portuguese King Afonso II, who gave her this village in the year 1217. In the middle ages through the Marialvu passed the ancient route of the pilgrims, who were on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. St. James (São Tiago) is also a patron of Marialvy, and in our days annually on the day of this Saint (25 July)-Marialve ...
