The village with the same name follows you the past since you lack to desertification very common in our interior. For what is observed in the local municipality of Meda is keen to contribute to this degradation and abandonment since there is no informative card that has a single letter. Some areas of the Castle seem to also serve as a worksite that on Castle prospect. Anyway it's always worth a visit because it is our history and heritage.

But some legends claim that the name comes from the name of Dona Maria Alvy, beloved Portuguese King Afonso II, who gave her this village in the year 1217. In the middle ages through the Marialvu passed the ancient route of the pilgrims, who were on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
