  • in good weather it's a great ride to do safely. We follow the small irrigation canal while passing by the species of flowers, plants, espaliers, isolated cottages gardens, and all this in a beautiful setting. Valley view changes at every turn. No difficulty path is virtually flat, apart from access to departure. You finish this small circuit in a village where a friendly bar with terrace overlooking the Valley and a good draft beer Coral refreshing (€1.50). A great time of recovery.

  • Did the taken four times in August and in many ways, the race walking and cycling. Of the four times I went there I got the rain, Sun, fog, which made the trip even more enjoyable. Strongly advise that enjoy nature this spectacular route. The course is short and relatively easy to make, perfect for any age group and on Sunday are many tourists of various nationalities who perform this way. Has spectacular views and most dangerous zones exist French balcony that allows some security during the trip. There is also some mini pedestrian tunnels easy to make and which make the trip even more interesting. Best of all this is that you don't have to spend money to enjoy this wonderful.

  • Levada do Castelejo ("Kasteledscho") is the start of the tour in the village of Cruz/Terra do Baptista, located above the new link road between Machico and Santana. Before the tunnel right extend the Guide leads even after Terra do Baptista, in the center of Cruz best already at "Kastrepas bar" Park. Difficulty: a) Levada do Castelejo: simple (flat terrain, gently rising, 290 HM at startup.) Total distance 4.4 km back and forth b) S. Roque do Faial: some short, steep climbs, back to Cruz descent and again 1 km climb to the village (road). Extension of the line to 5.5 km to return March back to Cruz. Continued from the end of a tour) gives rise to 490 HM predominantly shaded equipment: hiking boots no tunnel total distance: 10 km (Cruz-Levada do Castelejo-S.) Roque do Faial-Cruz), for example total time of 4.5 hours little frequented the hiking trail to the Levada do Castelejo begins in the village of Terra do Baptista and runs towards the left half front-end above at the edge of the village. The levada narrows at the entrance to the Gorge and ends after 4.4 km at a rest area. From there, you decide to direct back or can follow the signpost to Lombo Grande/S. Roque do Faial. On the overview of plate to the walking tour, Lombo Grande is way wrong, namely on the left side of the Gorge. Turn right crossing the Brook from the rest position. According to S. Roque do Faial's first uphill, along with a close, some close to the rock walls pressed way through some Laurel and eucalyptus groves. In some sections, the way was maintained again after slope slides. Overall, medium-sized, short climbs follow still 4-5. After 2/3 of the way up Lombo Grande, after a right turn, it goes along at ground level on a buried levada. In Lombo Grande shortly on the road after 100m right the stairs down in the direction of S. Roque do Faial. Then follow a short road links before the House a long descent down the stairs. Come down to the later dried levada along. After about 15 minutes it goes up a flight of stairs left in the Centre of S. Roque do Faial. Who has parked in Cruz, is always straight until joins the Levadaweg in the street in the village. Just behind it is a taxi stand. After Cruz's now about 45 minutes, it goes down the mountain and up to the intersection of the new highway. Keep to the right and in front of the tunnel turn right again. Followed by the 1 km-long climb up Cruz.
