Rossio Square, Lisbon

(3.9/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
At Rossio Square, one of the main squares in Portugal since the Middle Ages, see Baroque ornamental fountains and monuments, have a coffee, and browse through a variety of colorful flowers for sale. Visit cafes that date back to the 18th century and check out the shops selling traditional pastries and spirits. See a 27 m (89 ft) column of King Pedro IV, who was also the first Emperor of Brazil. Snap photos of the 1840 neoclassical national theater, take a look around the 1887 Neo-Manueline train station, or walk along the cobblestone paths of this popular square. • A huge and beautiful place, absolutely unmissable as Central. Very nice monument to Dom Pedro IV in the center of the square, many fountains, and beautiful buildings lining the square. It is a charming place of Lisbon.

  • it is very busy square and so many people are coming and going. You have to be very careful of your party or group.  more »
  • Very nice square adorned with characteristic places like Ginginha. Besides, the beating heart of the city and forced departure point and step to visit every other area. Shame about the incredible amount of drug dealers/scammers, the highest density I have ever seen in the world.
