4.5
#1 of 7 in Childrens Museums in Portugal
Become a science expert in a single day by visiting Pavilhao do Conhecimento- Ciencia Viva, an interactive museum of science and technology. This Pavilion of Knowledge, as its name translates, opened in 1999 with an objective to accumulate knowledge and stimulate the public's interest in scientific developments. The interactive activities allow you to learn by touching and becoming an active part of scientific experiments. Discover the laws of physics by attempting to ride a bicycle over a cable hanging 6 m (20 ft) in the air, or visit the museum's clinostat display to find out how plants grow in outer space. The award-winning museum building is one of the city's major architectural landmarks. Take the guesswork out of planning a Lisbon vacation by using our trip itinerary maker.

Regardless of age, everyone can be great fun here. Especially children from three years of age, but even the younger have a lot of space to play with. The coolest part is Doing, you can sew a shoe, do robocika or balloon with gondola, and that's not all.

Ideal place for those who have children (preferably with more than 7 years) Have funny workshops for everyone – it was fun to make ice cream.

Aimed towards keeping children entertained, but there's enough there for adults to enjoy themselves too, if they're willing to enjoy themselves. Lots of fun, practical and interesting experiments, with an emphasis on recycling and risk currently. Very educational and worthwhile.

A must visit place in Lisbon. I love the fact that they have a lot of experiments for kids, and not just theory

Great place especially for children. Fun way to learn some things about science. Not too expensive.

Where to stay in Lisbon

Check into one of Lisbon's grand city center hotels to position yourself well to explore the central historical districts on foot. To avoid the potentially high prices of some of the Old Town's central upscale hotels, try staying in a hostel instead. While some hostels have an upper age limit for their guests, they're affordable and oftentimes offer access to attractions on par with or better than bigger hotels. In the upper town, opt for one of the family-run bed and breakfasts, which provide affordable rooms and, as the name would suggest, include a meal as well.
