  • With a beautiful garden and good architecture, the Museum offers exhibitions of costumes of different eras. The visit is indispensable for the fashion lovers.

  • When I'm around Europe I always try if in every destination I can find a costume Museum or an ethnographic museum, they do understand and discover the habits and customs of a people between past and present, then interest me a lot for my profession as a costume designer. The Museum is located in a suburban area accessible by subway yellow, Lumiar stop, then you make about 600 metres walking distance, the structure that houses the Museum is an 18th century villa well maintained rooms are filled with stucco and panelling, original doors, the route goes from the 18th century to the present day, lighting well-researched, shrines with accessories and even men's fashion has its own space you will not find the natural light Windows are boarded up, sunlight is lethal for the storage of clothes, the ticket office is even bookshop with nice and young will make you fill out an anonymous questionnaire and important but useful for them, the villa Museum is set in a park that following the external path will take you to the National Museum of theatre and dance. If you can visit interesting for children to understand the history of fashion and its evolution, the keepers were shocked to hear that in Italy there is a costume Museum of fashion, a real shame in Italy could be a great Museum. For those who purchased lisboa card the visit is free

  • A sober, in a mansion Museum something decrepit, without wide variety of costumes. However, describes well each season from the point of view of the dress. Can be visited in conjunction with the Museum of theater that, though small, featuring well the Portuguese theatre. At the end of the visit we went for a walk in the Botanical Garden, which is fantastic. We enjoy a good time in the garden.

  • This is three-in-one sort of museum: The Traje Museum; it is a museum with pieces from the XVIII century Portuguese fashion until the first decade of the XXI. The building itself is worth the visit. The Theater Museum; it has pieces of clothing used on the Portuguese theaters, copies of plays, theater models and some other interesting items related with the backstage. The Classic Dance Museum; it is a small museum with items and pictures related the classic dance. It is quite small, but still interesting. Finally there is a great garden connecting the museums on itself worth the visit. (All free to visit on the first Sunday of the month)
  • Very beautiful garden!
  • Great place and a must go in Lisbon.
  • very good atmosfer
  • An enchanted place surrounded by an ugly suburbs. Clothes and accessories from the 18th century onwards. Not very large but very well looked after. Snubbed by tourists. Thank goodness!
