I stayed just a few metres away from this place and so walked past it multiple times each day. Although there isn't an awful lot to see (the museum is very small) what there is is definately... more »

Museu do Fado is a place you can easily love. It contains the heart and soul of Portugal's peculiar brand of music, the fado. It shows the development and evolution of this type of music which... more »

There is little in the way of actual relics/items in this museum - with the focus being primarily the audio guide. It was educational, but, we did not walk away feeling we had learnt any more than a.... more »

Great modern style museum. It is showing history of Fado music from the beginning till nowadays. After you buy tickets you get a phone style electronic guide. Every single exhibit has it own number that you type into the electronic guide that tells you the story. There is a interesting film projections. The museum offers a wide varieties of exhibitions. From guitars to fotos and music albums. At the end you can buy disks with Fado music. I highly recommend going there to learn about an interesting genera of music.

What an amazing place! Could've easily spent 4 hours there. I absolutely loved the video with the Fado singers explain what this music means to them. Full of history!

Not a lot to look at but the audio guide sure is great. Don’t go in a rush. Pick a lazy afternoon when you have nothing to do and sit there enjoying the music. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays by the way.
-
Rather for music fans, especially guitar lovers. The ticket price is 5 euros - what is lacking in my opinion is the information on the biggest Fado stars which influenced the music and the history the most.
-
Great history of Fado with audio guides so you can follow along in your own language.
