Mosteiro dos Jeronimos
Inspired by Vasco da Gama, Mosteiro dos Jeronimos serves as a great example of Late Gothic Manueline architecture. You can tour the church, where several important events have occurred since the Middle Ages. Limestone sculptures inside the church pay homage to historical naval expeditions. Its impressive, ornate architectural style is partly why this World Heritage Site has become famous. The monastery was founded in 1495, though its structure was not completed for more than a century, in 1601. Vasco da Gama is buried here, along with other notable explorers. You can also visit the site's Maritime Museum and National Archeology Museum, as well as the nearby Tower of Belém. Our Lisbon road trip planning tool makes visiting Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and other Lisbon attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

I have seen Jerónimos so many times but it somehow manages to take my breath away every time. It is such a mesmerizing place with all the amazing architecture details and the green interior garden. The majestic church and the colorful stained glass through which passes the sunlight it's simply perfect. Probably the most beautiful piece of architecture I saw in Portugal.

Absolutely beautiful and it's a must see if you're in Lisbon or Portugal in general. Beware the lines are going to be super long. This is where the Lisboa pass really came in handy because if you didn't buy the tickets in advance you would have to probably wait at least an hour just to get to the ticketing office and then an hour just to get into the monastery. If you have Elizabeth pass you can go straight to the line that leads into the monastery. Inside is magnificent architecture and a beautiful courtyard. It's one of the highlights of our trip to Lisbon

We visited the Church only. The impressive photos from the other reviews are mostly from the church which is free to enter and the queue is way smaller. There are two queues, the one on the left is for the monastery cloisters and it costs 10€, the one on the right is free and is for the church which I think is more impressive that what I've seen from photos of the cloisters. We are skipping the monastery cloisters ourselves.

Stopped here based on recommended spots in Lisbon. It's split into two parts, one is where you paid to enter and see the entire monastery and the other just inside the church which is free. It's about 10 euros to check out the paid portion, which is still worth it. The lines move pretty quick. Definitely a great location to check out.

If you have Lisboa card, you don’t have to wait in the line for ticket office. You can go to the entrance directly. It was splendid building and the inside garden was beautiful. The stand glass are so colorful and shining very beautifully. This is one of the most wonderful place you should come with Lisboa card when you come to Lisbon. Worth visiting and highly recommended!
