Miradouro de Santa Luzia, Lisbon

(4.4/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
Perched atop a hill overlooking the city, Miradouro de Santa Luzia gives you a view over much of Lisbon's medieval quarter, the Tagus River, and the nearby ocean. Climb to the terrace viewpoint and its basilica, and you'll find that you have a new perspective on the red rooftops of the Alfama neighborhood, as well as the city's spires that dot the landscape. Stop by the on-site church, which boasts a series of scenes and artwork constructed from blue tiles. Afterward, you can kick back with a drink at the terrace's cafe. • All Lisbon miradouros are beautiful and perhaps are the most essential of the city. Santa Luzia for me is the best of all: overlooking the rooftops of Alfama, appearing very close, has a sweeping view over the Tagus and presents a beautiful porch covered with azulejos. Absolutely recommended stop here
