Lookout Observation Deck
View Lisbon from its highest point, Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, with a castle on the hill, the city below, and the river with its massive bridge at the back. Take a seat on one of the benches lining the overlook and take in the tranquil atmosphere of the place, away from the bustle of the city underneath. The picturesque location is perfect for snapping photos: clouds rolling over a misty, sleepy town below the hill, or a lively riverfront city nestled amidst green forests and hills--either way, it awaits an artistic eye to capture its best angles. Where to stay in Lisbon

Check into one of Lisbon's grand city center hotels to position yourself well to explore the central historical districts on foot. To avoid the potentially high prices of some of the Old Town's central upscale hotels, try staying in a hostel instead. While some hostels have an upper age limit for their guests, they're affordable and oftentimes offer access to attractions on par with or better than bigger hotels. In the upper town, opt for one of the family-run bed and breakfasts, which provide affordable rooms and, as the name would suggest, include a meal as well.

  • Took a tuk tuk tour to viewing area. Highly recommend tour if you do not want to hike steep cobblestone road to get here. Very nice view of city.  more »
  • It's always nice to view a city from a highpoint, but otherwise there's nothing special about this place. Go if you're in the area, otherwise it can be skipped.  more »
  • Though it is a bit of a hike to get here, the view of the city is totally worth it; both day and night.  more »

  • Best sunset place in town and it's free. Recommend going there 30min before and after sunset to catch the best moments. Why not bring a bottle of wine and share it with friends?
  • You have a great panoramic view of the city after a short bit steep climb up the street. The view is worth it. There were two stands that sold fresh cold lemonade. I consider those two a very good addition as it was quite warm when we're there.
  • The most amazing view of Lisbon: Saint George Castle, River Tagus and a lot of tiny houses. It has also a small and cozy church.
  • Overlooking Lisbon from here is a unique experience. The sunset is a must, but at evening, with the lights burning along the streets it will be perfect as well. You can seat in the wood benches and stay for a while for real moments of relaxation and calm. Don´t miss it for nothing. For me it's the best "miradouro" in Lisbon.
  • Great view. Abut too easy to get too and crowded. My favourite route is up the stairs from Mouraria and Martim Mouniz
