  • If you're a lover of the necroturismo you know that English cemeteries tend not to disappoint and Lisbon's was no exception. It is true that it is not too big but it is full of vegetation and the tombs are the beautiful 19th century sculptures that both tend (US) to attract the lovers of cemeteries. It is not very easy to find, in fact, nor some of own lisboetas seemed to know very well what place we talked about (perhaps that is because me and my pathetic attempts to fail in Portuguese). Admission is free, with no one who watch even though a poster suggest you contribute with a small donation. It is important to not confuse times since it is only open in the morning and close relatively soon (I remember that to the 13.30)

  • The British cemetry is very pretty with a lovely garden and most famous for Henry Fielding's grave. It also has thw grave of all British citizens who have died in Lisbon, dating back 250 years. Plus it is the home of St George's church; which is the only Anglican/ Church of England church in Central Lisbon. It has services every Sunday at 11:30am and Thursdays at 12:30pm. They are always so inviting and welcoming and everyone is welcome. The church alone has an incredible history.
  • Mystic, secret garden, quiet, forgotten
  • Can only be visited on weekdays between 10.30 am and 1 pm.
  • Very good
  • Worth watching it. Together with the basilica and the garden of the star.

Where to stay in Lisbon

Check into one of Lisbon's grand city center hotels to position yourself well to explore the central historical districts on foot. To avoid the potentially high prices of some of the Old Town's central upscale hotels, try staying in a hostel instead. While some hostels have an upper age limit for their guests, they're affordable and oftentimes offer access to attractions on par with or better than bigger hotels. In the upper town, opt for one of the family-run bed and breakfasts, which provide affordable rooms and, as the name would suggest, include a meal as well.
