Create an itinerary including Elevador de Santa Justa
Travel between Baixa and Carmo Square with Elevador de Santa Justa, an elevator located in a Gothic tower. Built in 1902 to provide transportation between two neighborhoods in the difficult, hilly landscape of Lisbon, the elevator moves up 13 m (43 ft) from the lower streets of Baixa to the Ruo do Carmo and the upper zone of Bairro Alto. On your scenic elevator ride, you can see the Tagus River, Castle of Sao Jorga, and National Theatre D. Maria II, among other sites. Don't forget to stop on the elevator's observation deck and note its Neo-Gothic iron construction. You then can explore the adjacent neighborhoods on foot. • 5,30€ per person (>3y old) for a 10 sec ride. The viewpoint is closed so the only place to take picture is behind security fences. And it is possible to go there without any cost. No real interest...

  • Interesting structure but the line was horrendous and you couldn’t go to the top as it was closed. I would recommend avoiding it if there is a queue. Take a photo from outside.

  • A nice place but more then 5 Euro for a ride is way to much
  • The view from the top is excellent and it's not too crowded up there either. The wait for the elevator was long and in hindsight I would have been better off taking the stairs next to the museum in the back and crossed the bridge instead. The elevator itself has a few seats and it's like stepping 100 years back in time, like the rest of the tower.
  • Definitely worth seeing. We did not pay to ride the lift, but you can walk from bottom to top the ‘long way round’, or alternatively use the sneaky free lift to be found at the top of the steps behind the lift to the right, accessed through a small tourist ‘shop’ selling cork goods (see photos). It doesn’t get you all the way to the high level walkway, but it gets you half way there and IT’S FREE plus you get better views of the outside of the lift. You can walk around the lower viewing platform at the top of the lift FOR FREE; the highest viewing platform is currently closed.
  • The top levels of the elevator platform are closed, so you cannot see from the actual viewing platform, as of 9.23.2021. Save your 5,30 euro per person, and get to the same level the elevator stops at, by going behind the museum of archeology. The image attached to my post is where you go, to save some euros :) happy travels!
  • Bit of a queue to wait to go up a very short journey in a lift, no talk or history given. Only accept cash, able to go up and explore up on upper street levels then use ticket to return down lift. Great views of city from top. Viewing platform closed. Accepted metro ticket as payment.
