Albergaria Senhora Do Monte, Lisbon

4.4
#26 of 980 in Things to do in Lisbon
View Lisbon from its highest point, Albergaria Senhora Do Monte, with a castle on the hill, the city below, and the river with its massive bridge at the back. Take a seat on one of the benches lining the overlook and take in the tranquil atmosphere of the place, away from the bustle of the city underneath. The picturesque location is perfect for snapping photos: clouds rolling over a misty, sleepy town below the hill, or a lively riverfront city nestled amidst green forests and hills--either way, it awaits an artistic eye to capture its best angles. • You must walk through the alleys of Graça up to take full advantage of this view. Go by tuk tuk or tram is a heresy. Hand down the Alfama or by Tram 28 Estrela Graça is to do! the descent is typical...

  • Excellent location and incredible views over the city. Simply furnished. Simple but adequate breakfast. Very helpful staff. Great value.
  • The view is breathtaking, breakfast so and so coffee terrible , friendly staff at a outstanding location
  • Amaizing view of Lisabon! However, the cleaning staff (or maybe other guests) get quite noisy around 8a.m. So you should go early to bed if you want to sleep long enough. Breakfast is included but is not so good.
  • Rooms with a balcony facing Castelo San Jorge and the river with the bridge crossing it probably have one of the greatest views in Lisbon. A table and 2 chairs have been thoughtfully placed there - nothing like a glass of port wine while"drinking" in the great view - the same view one gets from the view point on Senhora do Monte. The room was clean and adequate. Bathroom has a bathtub, very clean with hot water 24hrs. Breakfast is included in the price. It is the usual Cold meat and cheese with bread, jam etc.. The famous "pastel de nata" or custard tart of Lisbon is also usually on the menu. Though there is no attached restaurant, the 4 star rated restaurante Via Graca is just a 300 meter walk away- which has the same great views and good food too. Castelo De sao Jorge, Alfama, Graca, Baixa and Chiado are all within walking distance. All this for around 138 dollars a night I would say is well worth it.
  • View from our room... Just the best.

Where to stay in Lisbon

Check into one of Lisbon's grand city center hotels to position yourself well to explore the central historical districts on foot. To avoid the potentially high prices of some of the Old Town's central upscale hotels, try staying in a hostel instead. While some hostels have an upper age limit for their guests, they're affordable and oftentimes offer access to attractions on par with or better than bigger hotels. In the upper town, opt for one of the family-run bed and breakfasts, which provide affordable rooms and, as the name would suggest, include a meal as well.
