25 de Abril Bridge, Lisbon
(4.4/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Longer than the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and quite similar to it in appearance, 25 de Abril Bridge connects Lisbon to Almada and services around 380,000 people daily. With a length of 2,277 m (7,470 ft), it's one of the longest suspension bridges in Europe. Because of heavy seismic activity in the region, it was built using the deepest foundation in the world, which reaches 80 m (262 ft) down into the riverbed. This massive red bridge can be a majestic addition to your holiday photo archive, or a picturesque backdrop for a picnic. You can cross it by car or by train. • Actually, the designer is the same as the one who worked on the Golden Gate Bridge. On the drizzly evening we visited, we saw the bridge framed by a perfect rainbow. Sadly, the battery on my phone die...  more »

  • It reminded me of the Golden Gate in a smaller version. The good thing about this one; I didn't see any fog.
  • The golden gate bridge of Portugal. Well, it's more like the bay bridge painted with the colors of the golden gate bridge. Anyway, there is an nice view of the brisge 10 mins from the belem train station.
  • Essential for my daily life. Too much traffic trying to use, a 3rd alternative should now be started.
  • A copy of the golden gate in the states, but still it remains an amazing structure. To see it better you have to cross it to Almada
  • This is often compared to San Fransisco's Golden Gate Bridge due to it's look and it's the connection between Lisbon and Almada. This has two decks and 6 lanes for the cara in the top deck and 2 rail tracks in the lower deck. Looks awsome in the day and night both and you would like to click pictures with the landscape of Lisbon or Almada.
