  • Looks OK and a great place to swim if you do not want to swim in the sea, but we went in March and it was empty of water. we will be back in June and give it a try.  more »
  • The whole pool is cause for AWE. Built through the use of existing rocks on the beach, tidal pool is an ex libris of the city of Matosinhos. Recommend to visit as well as the frequency of space in the summer months.

  • Maybe the best outdoor swimming pool I ever been. It's possible to feel the beach environment and a good place to take children! The only downside is that is always crowded in summer season.
  • When it's neither too cold or too windy, and the sun is shining, this is the place to go for a swim. Designed on the edge of the ocean by a local architect, these sea water pools make up for a very pleasant experience. The water is usually much warmer than at the regular beach, given the pools' dimensions, making them more prone to sun heating.
  • Amazing pool. We went on a Thursday morning to avoid the crowds which went to plan. Very beautiful setting highly recommended.
  • Fun experience although the main pool was closed because the waves in the ocean were collapsing into the pool... Even so the place is beautiful.
  • Developed and built between 1961 and 1966, this building became one of the most interesting buildings to visit in Porto since Álvaro Siza designed it. As still a young architect, Siza was appointed to design a new swimming pool at Leça da Palmeira right between the rocks and the sea. He spent months drawing and feeling the environment so he could design a building that fitted perfectly along the shore. It's architecture made from the site and for the site. All the materials are raw. Concrete, wood and steel are all processed with traditional techniques of constructing.
