Praia do Camilo, Lagos

4.5
#2 of 82 in Outdoors in Lagos
Beach · Nature / Park
The secluded, golden sand of Praia do Camilo, surrounded by Baroque-like cliffs and grottos, features a soft ocean floor as well as precipices with mysterious alleyways. Nestled at the bottom of a cliff, the small beach can be accessed either by descending more than 240 stairs or by boat. Spread your towel across the warm sand and catch some rays, and swim in the calm turquoise waters, sheltered from strong winds. At the top of the cliffs you'll see a restaurant, where you can try some freshly caught fish while taking in the wide open views of the ocean. • This is a small beach when the tide is in. Busy at weekends but during the week it was quieter. Take an umbrella for shade unless you are a sun worshiper.  more »
  • No people in the early October morning. Just sun, wind and beautiful caves. Loved this place. Nice walk.  more »
  • This is a Great place for sunset photos and to dine at the Camilo restaurant overlooking the sea. Tunnels are carved into the rocks so you can move from bay to bay.  more »

  • Nice typical small beach. You'll need to go early to take a spot or you can be left without. Another tip during our stay the level of the water went up as the day passed and we were forced to go back and back to the end of the beach by the afternoon we had to leave as there was no place and it was very very crowded
  • Beautiful beach! But small very small. You can swim to nearest beaches and even cross by foot when it's possible. You can do snorkeling! Lots of fishes! But there was too many people
  • The Whole Beach is Beautiful, Great sightings and very Clear water. It's also amazing to go at Sunset because the water Will be warm and you could have the entire beach to yourself.
  • Really small beach. Currently with COVID-19 restrictions its quite impossible to get a place to sit if you do not arrive early. Overall it is incredibly nice beach. It is perfect for paddleboarding, clear water, really close to other small beaches which are only accessible by sea.
  • Amazing beach, the kind of only locals know about, but be ready to climb down the cliff (I did great, my GF did not want to try at all). Quite hard to park where google indicates, but great view
