Played in three three balls. Original tee off time 1.50. Course massively overbooked. Eventually teed off at 2.35. After 1 hr we had only completed 2 holes. At 6.10 we gave up after only completing 9 ... read more »
Beautiful course, but seriously slow. Has 27 lovely holes giving a fair test but tee times in afternoon are running at least half hour late and round lasts 5+hours. Should make everyone take buggy or ... read more »
I have not played here since the course was completely re-built and what a transformation. The quirky clubhouse remains the same but that is about the only thing!! The staff were so helpful prior to o... read more »
We played 10 -27. The opening holes were great, it felt busy with groups in front and behind but it opened up nicely. We were then hustled out of 20 euro by a lady on the 12th who pushed us to enter a hit the green 'competition'. This took us by surprise and didn't help the concentration levels. Apparently this is normal in main algarve golf courses but we hadn't come across it before. Wish I'd just said no and ignored her. The back 9, 18 -27, felt odd, designed to be linksy it felt a bit more like a council course back home with loads of randoms wandering around the course, either looking for balls or trying to sell them back to you. I guess this relates to comments above about rights of access but just kinda put you out of rhythm. Overall some amazing views, challenging and fun holes but just a too many distractions. Glad to tick the box but wouldn't rush back.
Meia Praia is an amazing place. A beach with 5/6 Km long with lots of space for everyone. You just need to drive a little from the centre of Lagos and right now that's a real problem due to Onyria Palmares Beach & Golf Resort. The question is that this touristic resort just roadblocked the way with huge rocks so that their clients won't be disturbed by us, "the scum of the earth", while they're playing and enjoying themselves. It's a public road (M534) and it's a public beach, but these resort guys don't think the same way. They just illegally blocked the road and assume that if you want that nice spot on the beach you'll just have to walk through the sand for about 6 Km. By the way, there isn't a single traffic sign or an official, explicit, formal announcement that tells you that the road is not accessible. I must conclude that there is a silent complicity between the local government entities and the Onyria Palmares Resort. Simply a disgrace!!!
The 3 nines offer a different set of challenges from links to parkland, set in beautiful surroundings. One of the top courses in Portugal but without the undeserved pretensions of many of the more "famous" names that are living on their reputation.
a great tester.hi and low handicaps
