Meia Praia, Lagos

4.5
#3 of 84 in Outdoors in Lagos
Soak up the sun and splash around in the Atlantic at Meia Praia, a long, wide, golden sand beach at the edge of an estuary. Hailed as a Blue Flag beach for impeccable cleanliness, the 4.5 km (2.8 mi) seafront features summer water sports, year-round surfing and body boarding, and nature walks. To cool off or regain strength after a good swim, choose from among a selection of bars and restaurants along the coast offering fresh, local fish. Due to its length and width, this beach somehow never seems too crowded, even during peak season. • as beautiful as many but nothing unique, immense Beach sun beds and restaurants. Maybe drop by half a day or more

  • We have been spending the morning and it is very much at home. The beach is quiet and there are water activities, type kayak, pedal, paddle surfing, banana... very funny. But be careful with the tide!

  • Beautiful location. Staff is mixed. A little the years come, could use a renovation. Kitchen is good. Drinks in plastic glasses.

  • Lovely, little windy though.
  • I love this beach, has room to Park comfortably, by putting a snag beach is like step, I ate the in the beach bars and very well.

  • Beach clean with cold water, and some restaurants close by. Rent chairs and umbrellas is expensive, so better plan and lead their own, as well as a snack.

  • Very nice beach right in front of the gates of Lagos. Spacious and at the rear end to the mouth of the river and right empty. Best area at the last roundabout at the little shack of "Emotions of paradise", led by a totally cute French couple, the shadow & concerns various snacks and drinks offer.

  • Wonderful water as far as the eye can see!

Where to stay in Lagos

The historical city core of Lagos is packed full of colorful buildings and bustling streets, some of which date as far back as the medieval period. Though the hotels in the central district are on the expensive side, you can put yourself right in the middle of the city's best restaurants, bars, and tourist attractions by reserving a room there. The center and outlying residential neighborhoods also boast plenty of more affordable options, including smaller hotels, guesthouses, and family-run inns that offer fewer amenities but put you in good position to get out and about on foot. As Lagos is a relatively small town, you'll be within walking distance of both of its premier stretches of beach from nearly any lodging. Those with a car or transportation can get even further afield to experience other nearby coastal areas.
