  • Lots of flashy gizmos, with glass columns that light up with pictures and/or explanations of the slave trade, from a Portuguese perspective, but the items were repetitive and lacked any depth of fact....  more »
  • Nice photogenic square. Parking is available in the parking garage nearby. From here you can walk the walk in town or on the other side of the road along the seafront promenade on the water with the port in sight. You see on this square the image of Henry the Navigator. The fortress Ponta da Bandeira is located just around the corner. The castle walls and various images have you in sight. Park on the side with benches to rest and to enjoy of all passers-by.

  • Este renovado núcleo museológico Mercado dos Escravos dá-nos uma imagem da importância da cidade de Lagos enquanto porta de entrada de escravos e o seu papel de destaque nos descobrimentos portugueses. A adoção de novas tecnologias e interatividade permite uma excelente viagem ao passado e uma reflexão em relação a outras formas de escravatura que, infelizmente, ainda subsistem. A não perder!
