  • Goods in August 2016 in Benagil, the beach and the cave are worth in any case a travel. We stayed just outside (1 km, to great advantage because of the parking lots) and could paddle with our SUP on the beaches in the area. Be careful with the swim to the cave offered as excursion boats take no account of swimmers. The water was exceptionally warm. We will fly to the Algarve also 2017, Benagil is mandatory.

  • This beach is small and felt a little crowded but the boat tour from here was better than a previous tour we took from another area. The boat tour is the highlight from this spot. The snack bar had gr...  more »
  • ... so many things to say in this review. First of all explain the title. If you want to see the famous Benagil cave (called "the Cathedral") don't take the BOAT with various organized tours: costing a fortune, make you see some caves and the coast (beautiful but also visible by land) and especially do not make you get off (except when the sea is flat and then almost never) in the famous cave, which is EASILY REACHED by swimming from the same Benagil beach. Is located on the left side around the corner: a maximum of 5 minutes to swim very easy (I saw dad who brought their toddler over the mat). I say this because I took the tour and my only goal was to see and mostly stay in the famous cave: after seeing the coast and some caves, I discovered that "Cathedral" was just around the corner. Obviously after the tour I came swimming with my daughter and we were all the time we wanted: a show unique in the world. The name "the Cathedral" is spot-on. I would add that if you want to see the coast by sea and the other caves (beautiful but not essential) the tour is fine. In September the water was warm, almost hot then the swim was fattibilissima. I hope I was of help to all and have fun. SILVIO

  • Lovely small beach and some first rate cliff walks. There's a nice cafe up the steps to the right side which does good cheap meals and fresh fish. The beach is fairly small when the tide is in. Didn't get to do the cave boat due to raging seas, but walked to Praia Marinha instead which was wonderful, be sure not to miss the sinkhole along the path! Limited parking but if you don't mind a walk down there are a few up the top of the road.
  • Lovely spot. Take the adventurous sea cave boat ride. Nice little cafe. Restaurant above cove. Parking tight, so arrive early or prepare to walk a ways. Really, the boat tours are not to be missed.
  • The beach where the famous cave is. Easy accessible by the car. It can get crowded around noon so finding a place to park could be hard. There is a public parking place 300 m from the beach. Not that big though. The beach is big enough to accommodate enough people. What strikes me is that this is the first beach in Algarve where there is a public shower.
  • Another gem of the Algarve coastline. Swimming distance from the must see Benagil cave! Restaurants and bars within 100 meters from the beach. Beautiful views also within walking distance. Boat trips available. Definitely worth a visit!
  • Lovely and amazing beach. Fantastic views and warm water.
