Spend your day learning about marine-life conservation at the conscience exhibition center and aquarium. Take your kids to the beach here for a number of water slides and pools, including a large wave pool. Then hit the Ferris wheel, pirate ship, and other carnival rides on dry land. When you need to escape the sun, take the whole family to the park's 4-D cinema. • Fun filled day for the family Ok, first bit of advice. Do NOT get the bus there! Get your own taxi - the bus will be late (without apology or explanation) and then have to drive about and collect other guests from other hotels, so already you've lost a lot of time. And the buses insist on collection at 4pm when it's still open until 5/6pm. So you're losing time at both ends! Get a taxi there instead - about €13/€14 EACH way and despite what you hear from the agents, there will be PLENTY of taxis waiting for you when you leave! Maybe leave a little before closing time to be sure. Second piece of advice: Bring your own lunch - I got this from reading other people's reviews as the food supposedly isn't great - there is a nice ice cream shop though. Third: Give serious consideration to coming back a second day as it only costs €8 each, which is much better value than the first day. Shows: Dolphin show is brilliant, so is the pirate/acrobatics show. Wings of the World is all right, the others I could take or leave - I wouldn't lose too much sleep if I missed them so if you're only going for one day, I'd do the dolphin/pirate show and skip the others. After that there are great rides and slides - try and book a quiet time such as midweek or school time to avoid queues and crowds. Also, once you've paid at entrance - everything is free inside!
  • I'm not one for animals in captivity but these ones seem really well cared for. It's part zoo and part water park so there's more than enough to keep the kids occupied all day. This is my second day here and there's still plenty we haven't seen yet. I know you don't come to these places for the culinary experience but the food is AWFUL. It won't kill you but eat s big breakfast and have your dinner reservation ready.
  • Excellent park, with several shows that will entertain you all day long (dolphins, seals, pirates, birds, etc). It also has several water amusements that will keep you wanting more. Just check Zoomarine website to learn all about it. And I even give you a little secret, order your tickets online and get a discount!
  • Wow. My kids best day out ever according to them. Dolphin shows. Bird shows. Loads to do. All the rides were free once you got inside and the swimming pools were great (although a little cold). We loved it!
  • Great shows with dolphins, birds, seals and sealions. Our two year old loved those, especially the show with parrots and macaws. The birds fly out quite low over the crowd. There is enclosures and an aquarium to wander around. The "Americas" enclosure is very good. You can get right up close to some interesting birds. As with all places like this, the food is expensive and the gift shop is too, but it's not extortionate. Besides the wildlife, there's water slides and an artificial beach. It would be difficult to do all the shows, see all the wildlife enclosures and spend some time playing in the water in one day, so a discount is available for a second day ticket.

Where to stay in Albufeira

Renowned for its extensive beaches and rugged coastal landscape, Albufeira represents one of the nation's most popular destinations and offers a wide array of accommodations, both luxurious and more basic. Reserve a room in one of the city's upscale hotels in order to make use of pools, lounges, gardens, and amenities during your stay. Not only do they offer in-house luxuries, but generally these hotels place you within easy walking distance of the city's famed Praia dos Pescadores beach. While there aren't as many inexpensive options in town, staying at an inland bed and breakfast or a guesthouse in one of the smaller nearby towns can be both a relaxing experience and an affordable one.
