  • You cannot come to Madeira and not visit the Puco Arieiro. The views are spectacular and from there you can make an excursion to Pico Ruivo, the highest of the island (they are from 12 to 14 km back and forth with a drop of about 400 m from 1800 m is lowered to 1500 m and rises to 1870 , and then backwards). It's very well signposted. Watch out for the timetable as the access road closes-at 7 p.m. APXOX in summer.

  • Couldn’t believe the views / area. We ended up going back and doing the full hike to Pico Ruivo, however highly recommend even if just going to the first lookout (15 mins there).  more »

  • Mind blowing and breathtaking location in Madeira. Careful, it is cold out there. But what a view.
  • Mind blowing views. Can see the horizon on all sides and drive all the way to the peak with only a few steps to the summit from the car. People seem to put rocks under cars to stop them from rolling down the hill, which seems quite smart. There is cafe at the top that provides a welcome respite before the trip back down.
  • Great view above the clouds. The road to this amazing place is challenging. It took us about an hour with a car to get there from Funchal. Nice view during the trip. You will know if you are near when you leave the clouds below :D.
  • Arrive early before 10am for the best views and parking spaces near the peak!
  • Amazing view with amazing hike. You must go with time to spend
