  • A trip to the Pico do Arieiro is very worthwhile in good weather. You can boot up with the car on the parking lot at 1800 metres above sea level and then either go to the lookout point, or start a hike. The views of the volcanic rocky landscape with deep ravines is great. Also the subsequent journey over narrow scenic road with viewpoints to the nuns Valley (curral that freiras) is recommended.
