  • I have made several comments on sites I have visited in Madeira and this is the one that gets worse critical. We really wanted to get to know the market but we were a little disappointed; In the central square yes you can find some place with tropical fruit, very striking, but most of the stalls were lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers... Yes, at a price of Beverly Hills. The fish area, very tiny; is saved by the first floor that is more arranged and with more original products

  • On my first visit to Madeira I was fascinated by the accelerated movement in the farmers ' market, the ladies dressed in rigor as well as the countertops of the swordfish. The market was at the pine cone at that time.... After 15 years it doesn't look like the same market... Many empty stalls, the saleswomen of the flowers without encouragement and the benches of the fish reduced. It's a pity because the farmers ' market is a MUST for tourists to visit. I was a little disappointed...

  • Great place. We had lunch here and enjoyed it very much. There is fresh fish, vegetables, fruits, typical tourist attractions and more. The fruit attendants give you a taste of the fruits before you buy them but the taster is one thing and what you take home is another. Overall it is worth visiting.
  • You should visit this for the colors and the stunning presentation! But of course, whenever tourism is involved, some degree of asking too much and being slightly too pushy is also part of the deal. Yet, not to be missed and there are several small bars serving just excellent coffee and snacks. The best thing to do? Find the locals and see where they buy or have their coffee 😉
  • I think this ranks as the best market I've ever been to. It's best to go in the morning if you're interested in buying fish. The fruit, veg and flowers are wonderfully colourful and it really is an experience to visit. The stallholders try very hard to sell you their wares so take care, especially with the confectionery as the cost can mount up.
  • One of the best farmer's market I have been to. The local fruit produce is amazing. The colours are vibrant and the flavours are out of this world. Yes, it can be a bit expensive however it is worth it to try exquisite fruit.
  • Questionable. Everything is very visually appealing but most of the sellers are charging some ridiculous prices for imported fruits from exotic countries. If you're there just for the visual aspect, great, you're safe. If you wish to buy fresh fruits you're better of buying from supermarkets..sadly.
