Praia de Faro, Faro

Outdoor Activity
Take the single-lane road bridge to Praia de Faro, actually a small island that packs a punch. In addition to the beach, you'll find food, shops, bars, and accommodation all squeezed into a small area. The island itself features a seaside coast and a lagoon coast. While many visitors head to the seaside, do not miss out on the water sports and easy swimming in the lagoons. The locals' bright, colorful boats floating along the water complete this picturesque site. Note that the island gets especially crowded on weekends. Where to stay in Faro

As the region's biggest city and one of the country's national hot spots for nightlife, vacations, and the great outdoors, Faro features a huge array of hotels, guesthouses, and hostels. Most of the larger international chains sit within the blocks surrounding the city harbor, and although staying in one can be pricey, it puts you within easy walking distance of the city's selection of bars, restaurants, clubs, and other establishments. For more budget-friendly accommodations check out a family-run inn, a bed and breakfast, or the opportunity to simply rent an extra room from a local--all of which are extremely common in Faro. These accommodations may be a little farther outside the city center, but you'll get a quiet nook in a nearby residential neighborhood away from the city bustle.

  • Very nice beach, great for relaxation and many bars and restaurants. Onlybthe peace can be a little disturbed by the airport and this place is not really suitable for surfing. But in total: a really great place!
  • Yes, the atlantic at last. Had a beautiful time here. Be sure to check out the most south-eastern tip of the beach.
  • Wonderful Algarve Beach! The problems are the access and parking space. To get to the beach you have a one way traffic bridge and in the summer this makes everything really complicated. Also, once you get through the bridge there's a good chance you end up taking a whole hour to get q parking space.
  • Great long beach but lacking activities. Free parking and free showers. Kids really had fun.
  • Several options for having a meal and a great beach with warm water
