Where to stay in Faro

As the region's biggest city and one of the country's national hot spots for nightlife, vacations, and the great outdoors, Faro features a huge array of hotels, guesthouses, and hostels. Most of the larger international chains sit within the blocks surrounding the city harbor, and although staying in one can be pricey, it puts you within easy walking distance of the city's selection of bars, restaurants, clubs, and other establishments. For more budget-friendly accommodations check out a family-run inn, a bed and breakfast, or the opportunity to simply rent an extra room from a local--all of which are extremely common in Faro. These accommodations may be a little farther outside the city center, but you'll get a quiet nook in a nearby residential neighborhood away from the city bustle.

  • Small luxury hotel set away (approximately 8-10 km) from the usual standard 4-5 star hotels in Faro and Olaho. It is quiet which suited us both. Room was a good standard and very clean. Breakfast exce...  more »

  • Nice for a visit, but don't stay in the hotel because its not worth it's stars. The old building is charming, but the new part is badly maintained. A lot of stains on the walls and carpet, the pool is dirty and tiles in the pool are breaking down. The staff quality varies. Although the hotel has all the ingrediënts to be a great place, they lack the effort and attitude.
  • This is definitely a spot you want to see! It's an beautiful colorful castle with a big garden. Statues everywhere. At this time it's an hotel, but you can just enter for free. You can enter the gate from the village plaza.
  • Amazing,, simply amazing, 1 of ,if not the best hotel we have stayed in, old meets new perfectly
  • A REAL historical palace. One you can't find anywhere. With modern rooms, in a side building.
  • Beautiful and well preserved Palace. Definitely worth a quick visit!
