Walk the cobbled streets of Old Town Faro and encounter centuries-old architectural sights, Roman passages, cozy cafes, and a museum with archaeological findings. The site features the oldest horseshoe arch in Portugal and a 16th-century convent. Note the many houses decorated by flowers as well as the meandering paths and alleys; take a stroll down the shopping lane at the town center. You can have a meal at one of the typical Algarvian restaurants, or just grab a coffee along the riverfront. Old Town Faro reviews

Very nice to walk in the old center of Faro with its cobbled streets with different figures with many shops, pastry shops, restaurants and shops. Fascinating even at night with many lights. more »

Historic and fortified city center, nice for a stroll through the cobblestone alleys, a couple of pics and one or two hours will be sufficient though... more »

Fairly complete set of old town walls. Nice to wander the streets and stop off at quaint bars and restaurants. Some of the buildings are falling down but they are making some effort to restore them. Great views of the river and restaurants from the bar at the top of the walls. Also a tower to climb and small museums.

It's nice but you won't miss anything of you don't see it

we went to faro to discover the historical centre and no disappointed at all.. the area is relaxed and there's nice restaurant and bars everywhere!

Better "old town feel" than Albuferia old town, (which is very touristy). Ample free parking nearby, but once in the carpark, ignore any "locals" wandering around who try to tell you where to park and then ask for money to watch your car. Several nice restaurants within the old town area and pleasant to wander through....maybe good for a stop off before catching flight back home.

The walled town was nice and there was some attractive buildings however there wasn't much to see. If there was guided tours I'm sure it would be more interesting however I found it lacking in depth.
