  • Always interesting to see Roman ruins. Still some mosaics to see, lot of work also! Too bad keep it as that ruins

  • Monument of ESA. I, unknown to many but that is worth to be visited both by parts that are still visible (the Tower, the parts, the temple paleocristão ...)

  • This site located near the center of Estoi is worth the visit if you're in the area. There are no building from Roman times, but the (rather poorly protected) ruins with mosaics depicting fish especially. On the same site, a House dating from the middle ages and restored houses a small museum showing above all, inside, ruins dating from the Moorish period...

  • Very good value for €2, but if you're expecting something really spectacular, like, say, Wall Roman Site, you'll be disappointed. The bus from Faro (€6.60 return) dropped me at the crossroads before the site, so be sceptical of the assertion in the Rough Guide that it stops outside the entrance. There is a drinking water fountain among the four benches near the brick tower. Prices in this review correct in February 2017.
  • Not much to see but nevertheless an importante historical mark.
  • I was not allowed to enter with my dog on leash.
  • Poorly maintained and little explanation. Not worth the detour!

  • Why be alone without noise right issues, and good thanks

Where to stay in Faro

As the region's biggest city and one of the country's national hot spots for nightlife, vacations, and the great outdoors, Faro features a huge array of hotels, guesthouses, and hostels. Most of the larger international chains sit within the blocks surrounding the city harbor, and although staying in one can be pricey, it puts you within easy walking distance of the city's selection of bars, restaurants, clubs, and other establishments. For more budget-friendly accommodations check out a family-run inn, a bed and breakfast, or the opportunity to simply rent an extra room from a local--all of which are extremely common in Faro. These accommodations may be a little farther outside the city center, but you'll get a quiet nook in a nearby residential neighborhood away from the city bustle.
