Where to stay in Faro

As the region's biggest city and one of the country's national hot spots for nightlife, vacations, and the great outdoors, Faro features a huge array of hotels, guesthouses, and hostels. Most of the larger international chains sit within the blocks surrounding the city harbor, and although staying in one can be pricey, it puts you within easy walking distance of the city's selection of bars, restaurants, clubs, and other establishments. For more budget-friendly accommodations check out a family-run inn, a bed and breakfast, or the opportunity to simply rent an extra room from a local--all of which are extremely common in Faro. These accommodations may be a little farther outside the city center, but you'll get a quiet nook in a nearby residential neighborhood away from the city bustle.

  • Walked to find this charming little church, not hard to find. Fantastic wood carving shrines. Then there is the chapel of bones! Strange but true. Wall to wall exhumed bones and skulls.  more »

  • Interesting place to visit. it is open on weekdays 9-13 and 15-18, and on Saturdays 9-13. you can make pictures inside. Bone chappel is small but unique and beautiful. The church is also worth to see. Entrance costs 2€.
  • Interesting. Got around in under half an hour. Well worth 2 euros.
  • A must see when in Faro. Chapel of Bones is quite scary :-) but wonderful in the way the got all the bones together and build up a memorial.
  • It is a beautiful church. It has outstanding displays. Cost for the Chapel of the Bones 2 Euro. It is very interesting. If it was in the USA the liberals would demand it be destroying, DNA taken all bones and proper burial be provided. A must see.
  • It is a small chapel but it worth it the visit.
