Speed Boats Tour · Boat Tour
Composed of three islets of volcanic origin, Animaris Ilha Deserta sit just off the coast of Morocco, roughly between the Madeira and Canary islands. Classified as a nature preserve since the 1990s, these islands shelter both rare and native species. The archipelago's major attraction remains its population of about two dozen monk seals, widely regarded as the rarest seals in the world. Due to the islands' barren soil and arid climate, the only other wildlife surviving here consists of about 15 species of birds and a scarce population of feral goats, rabbits, and rodents. The easiest access to the islands is by guided boat tour, which you can join in the port city of Faro. • Our second trip by ferry. Lovely walk round the island ending up on the beach. Didn’t have a meal this time, just a beer, but were welcomed.  more »
  • Ilha Deserta is a must see in my opinion when in Faro. We took the €5 ferry (€10 return). As you exit the ferry to your left is the path to the beach which faces the Atlantic Ocean. On your right is.....  more »

  • Took a ferry here. Best day spent in Portugal! Beautiful sand and ocean. I’ve never seen so many seashells!
  • Incredible deserted island. We went in January and the weather was stunning. There is only one building on the island and that is a restaurant(quite pricy). But for the experience of ferry ride and quiet island I am definitely giving 5 ⭐️ Must go if you are visiting Faro and looking for special experience.
  • Wonderful, peaceful island. We were there off season. So not many people there a we could enjoy it more. I think, during the season it's a wonderful place for the lazy type of vacation. Just enjoy the sun on the beach
  • Get the boat from Faro at 1130 and prepare to spend the day on the island. You can walk all round it on the boardwalk and you can have lunch in the restaurant, cheap or expensive, swim, sunbathe (they rent umbrellas and loungers but take a towel) and return on the 4.30 boat all for a very reasonable outlay.
  • Very nice beach
