Templo Romano de Evora (Templo de Diana), Evora
(4.1/5 based on 1,900+ reviews on the web)
See the remains of the ancient Roman Templo Romano de Evora (Templo de Diana), with a preserved base and columns carved out of granite and marble, positioned at the center of a public square. This two-millennia-old religious structure stands 9.7 m (32 ft) tall and 25 m (82 ft) wide, and was originally surrounded by a reflecting pool. Built mainly for religious purposes, the site was historically used also as an execution point and a slaughterhouse. View its 14 original granite Corinthian columns with decorative marble capitals, sturdy enough to have withstood the destructive earthquake of 1755. • In Italy we have Rome and others, there is no comparison, hats off, but in Italy there are many, the place is nice and the city centre of Evora, what little they know this exploit, in the municipality there are also some remains of Roman baths

  • You can't go to Evora and not visit them. Is a preserved monument that is the hallmark of the city. Must-see

  • Copy of Roman architecture in this city that saw the cradle of civilization in Europe. It's still impressive but lacks more information of your use and as it was at the time he was active

  • A great stop and a short ride from Lisboa. I wan't aware of this first-century historic landmark prior to my visit. The Roman Temple of Évora (Templo romano de Évora), also referred to as the Templo de Diana (albeit wrongly).
  • Amazing, especially at night. If you go there you should also walk through the park that is close by to see a panoramic view of the city.
  • How can you visit Evora and not stop by the Roman Temple?! Evora's history at the crossroads of main thoroughfares from ancient times is fascinating. This place offers a small glimpse into that story.
  • More from a historic point of view this is well preserved but not really very special compare to others in Europe.
  • It is amazing to visit this Roman Temple in the center of city. It has interesting history for surviving such as long time.
