Museu de Evora Reviews

It is located on the north side of the cathedral. The former bishop's hall has been renovated and is now a museum. There is a public library across the road, and photos of the two are posted. The Museum of the Vora is a building with a triangular roof at the entrance. On the other hand, the library (Public Library vora, in Portuguese, Biblioteca P.blica De.vora) does not have a triangular roof at the entrance. The building remains rectangular. The museum is closed on Mondays and opens from Tuesday to Sunday. Admission fee is 3 euros.View original -

Occupying the former palace of the Archbishop (16th century), the Evora Museum presents works of art and archaeological artifacts. Of particular interest are the cenotaph (16th century), the beautiful marble sarcophagus of 1364, paintings by Francisco Henriquez, the official artist of King Dom Manuel and Gregorio Lopez, in which you can see the influence of mannerism. The section of religious art includes 13 works from the old Flemish altar of the cathedral.View original -
I've rated this five stars in the context of expectations - I've visited far more impressive museums but few have the organization and close ties to the immediate region that we found at the Museu de ... more »

This place was small and quaint and contained lots of artifacts and stones/pieces of ruins from the local area. Entrance fee was only a few Euros, and it took only about 40 minutes to see everything. There’s a cool courtyard with a hanging sculpture.

This place is affordable and awesome. There is a free audio tour with admission. The museum is not usually busy, and has lots of artifacts and art to view.
-
An amazing museum with great collection of paintings and archaeological remainings of different era.
-
Very good.
-
Good museum, cheap ticket. The English language is not accepted by the computers and there are some problem with Google Chrome extensions.
