  • Excellent museum located in the old Episcopal Palace. Has a lot of works of painting of the 15th and 16th century, with paintings of the Flemish school (Bruges) and the Portuguese school. Is a famous set of 13 panels, representing the life of the Virgin. There are rooms devoted to the sculpture, architecture and jewellery (with some Roman parts). Is one of the most important museums of Portugal.

  • Museum with modern air and well structured. Has interesting permanent exhibitions devoted to painting and magalitismo. Also presents temporary exhibitions. At the time I visited was a patent exhibition on the East and the Silk Road. Very interesting.

Where to stay in Evora

Take advantage of Evora's array of ancient and historical sites by staying in one of the many mid-range hotels located within its medieval core. Thanks to a mix of Roman, Moorish, and later European buildings, the entire center is listed as a World Heritage Site, so this area provides a great base for sightseeing by foot. To save a little on accommodations, you can also check into one of the hostels in town, most of which are located in the city center or on its winding residential streets that branch off from the main squares. These usually have shared, dorm-style rooms, but can get you right in the midst of the action at a very low cost.
