  • Located on a main square of the city, the church Santo Antao is easy and interesting to visit. You will see there a lot of small chapels in barocco art.  more »
  • This 16TH century Church is located opposite the Praça do Giraldo, and is worth to be visited, in addition to your internal and external architecture. At night the lighting very cherishes the Church.

  • I don't know what the inside because there is not open, but I look from the outside there is a beautiful building with old fashion design. There is at the large space of evora.
  • Located in the Giraldo square, its construction began in 1557 on the ground where the Hermitage of San Antoninho, settled for what was necessary to demolish the existing there Roman arch. It is late-Renaissance style and its type is part of the so-called iglesias-salon, dividing the interior into three naves, separated by a few impressive ionic columns of granite. Highlights the main Chapel, of the 18th century, with two interesting paintings of Bento Coelho da Silveira: the last supper and the massacre of the innocents. In the side chapels are also other important works, including San Miguel and souls, Jerónimo Corte Real, and San Agustín, Francisco Vieira Lusitano. The façade is divided into three sections, separated by pilasters; Unfortunately during our visit it was in restoration, completely covered by awnings, so we could not appreciate it. The entrance to the Church is free, although if you want to take photos, we will have to contribute with the fee of 50 cents; It is advisable to remove the CAP if we carry it and not make too much noise, Lady that Church monitors is pretty grumpy. We were lucky to find it open around six in the afternoon, but nowhere figure opening hours. In any case, if we find it open, worth entering.

  • The worst place in Évora to visit. Upon entering we have signs asking 50 cents for each photograph taken, thinking I was going to be a location that had much to photograph, enter and see that it's a church in degradation, where the various images that have are in degradation. Interestingly, upon entering are treated by COP 3 (3 old ladies) who are watching what we do. Interestingly are part of the Church. Interestingly it was the first church I entered that no donated ...

Where to stay in Evora

Take advantage of Evora's array of ancient and historical sites by staying in one of the many mid-range hotels located within its medieval core. Thanks to a mix of Roman, Moorish, and later European buildings, the entire center is listed as a World Heritage Site, so this area provides a great base for sightseeing by foot. To save a little on accommodations, you can also check into one of the hostels in town, most of which are located in the city center or on its winding residential streets that branch off from the main squares. These usually have shared, dorm-style rooms, but can get you right in the midst of the action at a very low cost.
